The Growing Appeal of Morocco for Brazilian Tourists
Morocco is establishing itself as a highly favored tourist destination among Brazilian travelers, thanks to its rich blend of economic, natural, and cultural attractions. One of the key factors contributing to this trend is the absence of visa requirements for Brazilian citizens, allowing them to stay in the country for up to ninety days without bureaucratic hurdles. This seamless travel experience is further enhanced by the affordability of living in Morocco, making it an appealing option for tourists looking to explore without overspending.
A recent report from the Brazilian news outlet "Diário do Comércio" highlights Morocco's rise as a globally recognized tourist destination. The country offers an exceptional balance between cost-effectiveness and quality, attracting budget-conscious travelers who prioritize value without sacrificing their experience. Tourists can expect to spend an average of 200 to 500 Brazilian reals a day in Morocco, which covers essentials such as food, transportation, and accommodation. This economic advantage, coupled with the ease of accessing Morocco without prior visa arrangements, eliminates common international travel obstacles, including complex paperwork and additional fees.
Increasing Tourist Numbers and Enhanced Connectivity
According to data from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, approximately 5,161 Brazilians visited Morocco in January of this year, a significant increase from 4,275 in the same month last year. This growth trend is indicative of a 35% rise in Brazilian tourist arrivals in Morocco throughout 2025, with a total of 54,475 visitors compared to 40,277 in 2024. The surge in tourism can be attributed to a series of strategic initiatives, including the opening of a tourism office in São Paulo in September 2023 and the resumption of Royal Air Maroc flights to Brazil in December 2024.
Mohamed Amine El Joudani, the representative of the Moroccan National Tourism Office in Brazil, emphasized that the increase in Brazilian tourists is a result of effective communication and collaboration with key market players. The Moroccan tourism office has organized various promotional trips and training sessions with travel agencies, along with participation in national and regional tourism fairs. Historically, Royal Air Maroc operated flights to Rio de Janeiro from the 1970s to the 1990s and to São Paulo from 2013 to 2020 before operations ceased due to the pandemic. In 2024, the airline resumed its connection between Casablanca and São Paulo with three weekly flights, increasing to four flights in December. Plans are already in place to further expand services to São Paulo and potentially reintroduce flights to Rio de Janeiro.
