The Mohammadia School of Engineering Sparks Debate on Technological and Intellectual Sovereignty

The Mohammadia School of Engineering Hosts High-Level Conference on Technological Sovereignty

On April 16, 2026, the Mohammadia School of Engineering will host a prestigious pre-conference dedicated to the crucial theme of technological and intellectual sovereignty. This event serves as a strategic precursor to the 32nd edition of the EMI-Enterprises Forum, set to take place on May 20 and 21, 2026, under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. The gathering aims to foster a deep reflection on the evolving power dynamics in the era of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need for nations to assert control over their technological destinies.

Exploring the Impact of AI on Global Economies

Entitled "48 Hours for Sovereignty: To Produce or to Endure Intelligence?", this conference-debate seeks to address a fundamental question: In a world where technology is increasingly concentrated in the hands of global players, can nations still maintain mastery over their technological futures? With the rise of artificial intelligence, big data, and digital infrastructures, the ability to generate and leverage scientific intelligence has become an essential lever for competitiveness, independence, and international influence.

The EMI-Enterprises Forum committee aims to bring together a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders, including public decision-makers, industrial leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, and students, to engage in discussions about the challenges posed by digital sovereignty. The goal is to identify strategic levers that can enable emerging countries, particularly Morocco, to establish themselves in the new knowledge economy. Key topics of discussion will include the geopolitical and economic implications of artificial intelligence, the role of data and digital infrastructures as new instruments of power, and the importance of talent development and international cooperation in building robust technological ecosystems.

This pre-conference aligns with the overarching theme of the 32nd edition of the EMI-Enterprises Forum: "The Kingdom's Talents as Vectors of Digital Intelligence: A Systemic Sovereignty at the Heart of a Strategic Morocco." Over the past three decades, the EMI-Enterprises Forum has become a landmark event, attracting thousands of students and professionals each year. The previous edition welcomed over 190 companies and attracted more than 20,000 visitors, receiving extensive media coverage.

Through this pre-conference, the organizing committee reaffirms its commitment to positioning Moroccan talents at the forefront of global technological transformations and contributing to the emergence of a sustainable digital sovereignty grounded in innovation, research, and excellence. Notable figures from institutional, technological, and entrepreneurial spheres will participate, including Amine Zarouk, CEO and tech entrepreneur; Ghita Mezzour, founder of DecisiveAI; Nasser Kettani, crowdfunding and fintech expert; Chakib Achour, president of GITEX Africa; Hicham El Bayed, moderator and consultant; and Amine El Mezouaghi, director general of the ADD.

Join us on April 16, 2026, at the Mohammadia School of Engineering for an engaging moment of exchange, reflection, and future-oriented discussions.
