Celebrating Global Theater and Artistic Expression
In a remarkable celebration of the World Theater Day, the Riad Sultan Theater located in Tangier is set to conclude its March programming with a unique artistic event that blends contemporary creation with educational outreach for young audiences. On March 27, the theater will present an engaging performance titled 'Eux', produced by the Anfas company, which delves into the complexities and tensions of a world in crisis through the lens of drama, poetry, and narrative. Drawing from a text by Abdellah Zariqa, this production embodies the inner conflicts that individuals face, portraying a character caught between various ideas and emotional states. The staging, directed by Asmaa Houri, captures a Kafkaesque transformation, where the protagonist grapples with the pressures of an unstable environment. The immersive experience is further enhanced by Amine Boudriqa's creative scenography and Rachid Baroumi's evocative musical composition, bringing to life the intense emotional landscape on stage, where performers Hajar Cherki, Abdelrahim Tamimi, Mohamed Chahir, and Zainab Alji deliver powerful interpretations.
Engaging the Young Audience Through Meaningful Stories
Following this, on March 28, the theater will host a performance designed specifically for younger viewers titled 'Serena and the Fisherman', presented by the troupe 'Jouons pour les Arts'. This captivating tale introduces children to critical environmental themes, particularly ocean pollution. The narrative follows the journey of a fisherman who encounters a sea filled with waste, while a mermaid witnesses the deterioration of her aquatic home. Through imaginative storytelling, the play aims to raise awareness among children about ecological issues, emphasizing the importance of individual responsibility in protecting nature. This initiative reflects the theater's commitment to educational outreach, aiming to instill a sense of environmental stewardship in young minds.
Meanwhile, in Rabat, the Espace Rivages is commemorating its tenth anniversary with a significant exhibition titled 'Traces on Shores', organized by the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad. Running from March 26 to April 25, 2026, the exhibition showcases a rich collection of works by sixty artists who have contributed to the space since its inception in 2016. Rivages has evolved into a cultural bridge connecting Morocco with its artistic diaspora, featuring creators from diverse geographical backgrounds, including Europe, North America, and the Middle East. This exhibition not only spotlights established artists but also introduces new voices, reflecting the vibrant and constantly evolving artistic scene nourished by cross-cultural influences.
Through 'Traces on Shores', the exhibition aims to enhance the recognition of these creators and solidify their contributions within the Moroccan cultural landscape, highlighting the diaspora's role as a vital force for cultural exchange on an international scale.
