On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the lifeless body of a baby named Younes Alaoui was discovered in one of the water canals in the Taddsi area, approximately five kilometers from his family's home in the Zakoura region. This discovery came ten days after the infant mysteriously disappeared, prompting a relentless search effort by local authorities and community members.
According to local media sources, the body of the infant, who was just one year and three months old, was found in a location that sees significant foot traffic from residents, raising numerous questions about how and when he ended up there. Upon arriving at the scene, his family was able to identify him immediately, engulfed by a profound sense of shock and sorrow that swept over relatives and neighbors alike.
Reports indicate that there were no visible signs of violence or torture on the body, and the child's features appeared unchanged, suggesting that the death might have occurred relatively recently.
Following the notification of the incident, local authorities, as well as members of the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection, quickly arrived at the scene. The Royal Gendarmerie initiated a field investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office, systematically combing the area around the canal and gathering potential evidence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death, including whether it was an accident or if there were any criminal implications.
The tragic case began ten days earlier when Younes Alaoui vanished under mysterious circumstances from outside his family's home in the Oulad Al-Ashab area, part of the Rouha municipality within Zakoura. His disappearance deeply affected the local community, leading to extensive search campaigns involving hundreds of locals and community organizations who scoured the nearby mountains and fields for any sign of him, only to discover his body five kilometers from his home.
