On the morning of Sunday, March 22, 2026, civil protection divers in the Taounate region successfully recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy who tragically drowned in the waters of Wadi El-Lebn, located in the commune of Bassabsa, under the jurisdiction of the Tissa district. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the boy attempted to cross the river and was swept away by the swift currents.
Despite the efforts of civil protection teams, the search for the boy was unsuccessful until midday on Sunday. Upon recovering the body, the divers transported it to the morgue at the regional hospital in Fes, where it will undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have initiated an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
