Realizing the Royal Vision through Major Projects in Agadir
Aziz Akhannouch, the former president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) and current President of the Agadir Municipal Council, recently emphasized the significant urban transformation that Agadir has experienced in recent years. This transformation has been driven by the royal vision and substantial development projects initiated under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. During a major party meeting held in Agadir, Akhannouch highlighted the key structural projects that have been launched within the framework of the Urban Development Program for 2020-2024, which will be further complemented by the Municipal Action Program for 2022-2027.
The Urban Development Program of Agadir serves as a cornerstone of this transformation, focusing on crucial projects aimed at modernizing the city and enhancing its attractiveness. These efforts encompass improvements in urban mobility infrastructure, the requalification of public spaces, and the development of cultural, sports, social, and health facilities. This dynamic will continue to evolve under the Municipal Action Program, which prioritizes reducing disparities among various neighborhoods within the city.
Akhannouch noted that over 2 billion dirhams have been allocated to uplift neighborhoods, particularly those situated in the mountainous areas surrounding Agadir. This investment is aimed at enhancing road networks, public lighting, sports fields, and green spaces, with the ultimate goal of connecting these areas and improving the living conditions for their residents. In parallel, nearly 1 billion dirhams has been dedicated to urban rehabilitation initiatives and service enhancements across several neighborhoods, including Tikiouine and Hay Al Hassani. These efforts have significantly contributed to improving the living environment, requalifying the urban landscape, and fundamentally transforming the city's image.
