Transition of Leadership at Marrakech Greater Cooperation Group

On Wednesday, June 3rd, the Marrakech Greater Cooperation Group held an official ceremony to mark the transition of leadership at its headquarters in Marrakech. The event saw the outgoing president, Mohamed Chaqiq, hand over responsibilities to the newly elected president, Noah Khafif. This significant gathering was attended by members of the administrative council, the general director of the group, and various administrative officials, highlighting the importance of institutional protocols in ensuring a seamless transition.

This meeting was a pivotal moment aimed at securing the continuity of projects and services that are essential for managing vital facilities within the city of Marrakech and the surrounding municipalities that fall under its jurisdiction. During the ceremony, Mohamed Chaqiq presented a comprehensive overview of his previous term, focusing on several key projects that had been successfully implemented, particularly in managing the delegated cleanliness sector and enhancing the financial stability of the group. He emphasized the necessity of ongoing coordination and collaborative efforts among member municipalities to address the challenges associated with urban management and local development.

Chaqiq also expressed his readiness to provide the new president with all relevant data and files to ensure that administrative and institutional work continues under optimal conditions. In response, Noah Khafif acknowledged that the achievements made in the past years provide a solid foundation for further enhancing the group's performance. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the quality of services offered to citizens while strengthening principles of governance and transparency.

Looking ahead, Khafif outlined that the priorities for the upcoming phase would include accelerating the implementation of structural projects linked to the "Marrakech Renewed City" program, alongside improving management efficiency and enhancing the performance of the facilities under the group's purview. Following the official speeches, a symbolic handover took place, which included the transfer of the presidential office keys, the group’s seal, and documentation pertaining to financial and accounting status, asset inventories, ongoing project files, and budgetary programming.

The handover report was also signed in the presence of the general director, who provided an update on the operations of the group’s facilities and the progress of ongoing projects and contractual commitments. At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the administrative council praised the smooth transition process, highlighting that this step reflects the principle of institutional continuity and supports good management of local public affairs.

In the coming days, Noah Khafif is expected to convene the first session of the administrative council to present the work program for the upcoming term and to approve the distribution of responsibilities within the management office. Thus, the Marrakech Greater Cooperation Group enters a new phase in its institutional journey, aiming to enhance its role in managing public facilities and services while keeping pace with the developmental dynamics of the city of Marrakech.
