Trial Set to Begin for Six Police Officers in Fes
The Fes Appeals Court is scheduled to commence the trial of six police officers, including the head of an anti-gang unit in Taza, on October 13, 2026. These officers face serious allegations of corruption and the breach of professional secrecy. This development follows a judicial investigation that was initiated based on findings from the National Police's Judicial Brigade, which uncovered suspicious connections between the officers and drug dealers.
The investigation was prompted by a complaint received by the General Directorate of National Security from an informant, accusing regional police officers in Taza of engaging in actions and misconduct that may fall under criminal law. This led the Inspectorate General of National Security to conduct an inquiry in June 2023.
Upon concluding its investigation, the Inspectorate's report indicated that the accusations against the implicated police officers were of a criminal nature rather than administrative. Consequently, the National Police's Judicial Brigade intervened to initiate a judicial investigation into the matter.
As a result of the judicial process, the six officers have now been referred to the Criminal Chamber of the Appeals Court in Fes, where their trial will officially begin in October 2026, marking a significant step in addressing corruption within the police force.
