Ongoing Search for Missing American Soldiers in Morocco
In a concerning development, two American soldiers participating in the international military exercise "African Lion 2026" have been reported missing in southern Morocco. Their disappearance occurred on the evening of May 2, 2026, near a cliff at Cap Draa, located in the Tan-Tan region, as confirmed by both the Moroccan military and the United States Africa Command (Africom). This exercise, which showcases military cooperation between the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the U.S. military, is currently in its 22nd edition and was officially launched in Agadir earlier this week.
Investigation and Search Efforts Underway
Immediately following the soldiers' disappearance, a coordinated search and rescue operation was initiated, involving Moroccan and American forces, along with military personnel from other participating nations.
