Significant Drug Bust in Essaouira
In a major enforcement operation, the local police force in Marrakech, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, apprehended two individuals on the evening of Friday, August 14. The suspects, aged 23 and 41, are believed to be involved in the illegal possession and distribution of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The arrest took place as the female suspect arrived in Essaouira on a passenger bus, where authorities discovered a staggering 3,690 ecstasy pills, 11 kilograms of hashish, and 120 grams of cocaine in her possession.
The ongoing investigation led police to identify a second individual linked to this criminal activity, who was also arrested in Essaouira. Upon his apprehension, authorities found a sum of money that is suspected to be the proceeds of the drug-related activities. Both suspects are currently undergoing judicial inquiries under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this case and to pinpoint any additional connections that may exist regarding this illicit trade.
