UAE Attorney General Unveils Alarming Terror Plot on FlyDubai Flight

In a shocking revelation, UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi announced on Saturday that investigations into the FlyDubai flight incident have uncovered a serious terror plot involving the co-pilot. The plot reportedly aimed to hijack the aircraft using an emergency axe during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, 2026. This information was initially reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

According to Al Shamsi, the investigation into FlyDubai flight FZ1073 indicates that the co-pilot had initiated the execution of a terrorist operation shortly after takeoff. He attacked the captain inside the cockpit with the emergency axe, attempting to seize control of the aircraft. Al Shamsi emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, aiming to uncover all aspects of the incident, including the motives behind it and any connections related to the perpetrator.

The FlyDubai aircraft, a Boeing 737, was carrying 174 passengers at the time of the incident. Eyewitness accounts from passengers suggest that the co-pilot's intention was to bring down the plane. However, the captain managed to open the cockpit door, allowing several passengers to rush in and subdue the assailant, averting what could have been a catastrophic event.

Identity of the Co-Pilot and Ongoing Investigations

Although UAE authorities have not publicly disclosed the identity of the co-pilot, Israeli officials have indicated that he is of Omani nationality. Sources familiar with the matter have identified the co-pilot as Hamam Al-Hamami, confirming his Omani citizenship. The UAE authorities have yet to respond to requests for official confirmation of his identity.

The emergency axe used in the incident is typically kept in the cockpit for emergencies, such as aircraft crashes. The quick actions of the passengers and crew were instrumental in regaining control of the situation, as they managed to overpower the co-pilot who had attacked the captain in what officials suggest was an attempt to hijack the airplane, which was carrying over 170 individuals at the time.
