Urgent Call for Intervention to Address Nutritional Service Issues in Marrakech Healthcare
The local branch of the National Health Syndicate at Ibn Zahr Hospital, associated with the Democratic Federation of Labor, has urgently appealed to the Wali (Governor) of the Marrakech-Safi region. The syndicate is demanding immediate intervention to rectify the ongoing issues related to the management of nutritional services within the institutions under the Regional Hospital Center of Marrakech. They insist on holding the contracting company accountable for adhering to the service specifications, which are funded by public funds.
In a statement obtained by "Nichan Now," the syndicate emphasized that health professionals and patients should not be held hostage to arbitrary management practices. Public procurement is not a matter for subjective handling; rather, it is a contractual obligation that mandates strict compliance with its provisions. The statement revealed that the issues have escalated from mere observations regarding management quality to significant disruptions, including the cessation of meal distributions intended for on-duty healthcare personnel who ensure the continuity of health services. These professionals perform their duties under challenging conditions and constant work pressure.
The statement also pointed out that various committees responsible for monitoring the nutritional services at the institutions associated with the Regional Hospital Center had previously documented numerous deficiencies, submitting reports and complaints regarding the matter. The contracting company had previously cited concerns about the acceptance of its file due to a change in its name.
The syndicate acknowledged the efforts made by the management of the Regional Hospital Center of Marrakech in monitoring this issue and addressing the challenges associated with it. However, they asserted that the ongoing situation necessitates decisive action to end these practices and ensure strict adherence to contractual commitments. They emphasized that reforming the healthcare system, which has received special attention from King Mohammed VI, requires the involvement of stakeholders and companies to uphold their responsibilities towards public services and the personnel working within them while respecting their contractual obligations.
