Marrakech Welcomes WWPC Members for Annual Gathering
The Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) recently hosted its 24th annual membership conference in the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco, from October 6 to 8, 2026. This prestigious event was primarily sponsored by WWPC's Moroccan member, Pérez y Cia Maroc, which is based in Tangier. The conference kicked off with a warm reception at the luxurious Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, where delegates from around the world gathered to engage in a multitude of member-to-member meetings, insightful industry presentations, networking opportunities, and cultural activities meticulously organized by both Pérez y Cia Maroc and WWPC.
Among the distinguished speakers at the conference were Anas Halhal, the director of Tanger Med Port and its terminals; Salmi Zobair, who heads the transportation strategy and coordination division at Morocco’s Ministry of Transport; and Ali El Hsissen, general manager of Pérez y Cia Maroc. Their contributions provided valuable insights into the logistics and transportation landscape in Morocco, further enriching the experience for all attendees.
Key Outcomes and Future Directions
During this highly collaborative event, members voted to elect four new representatives to the WWPC’s board of advisors for a one-year term. The newly elected advisors include Elmer Sarmiento from Royal Cargo in the Philippines, Ahmed Dahshan from Khedivial Marine Logistics in Egypt, Marcel Hafemann from Ambercor Shipping in the USA, and Ole Dammann from LS Cargo Logistics in Germany. This decision marks a significant step forward in ensuring diverse representation on the board, facilitating broader perspectives and strategies in future initiatives.
Additionally, the members decided that the next annual membership conference will take place in Lyon, France, in early October 2027, with WWPC member LYSEO serving as the local host. The gathering not only served as a platform for networking and collaboration but also included a charity auction that raised an impressive USD 30,000 for La Main Tendue Marrakech Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and families in Morocco. The auction, led by WWPC director and auctioneer Wolfgang Karau, featured generous donations from participating members, along with contributions from notable organizations such as BBC Chartering, LYSEO, Steder Group, WWPC, Quality Cargo Networks, and Pérez y Cia Maroc. This philanthropic effort highlights the commitment of WWPC members to give back to the communities in which they operate.
