Wydad Casablanca's Sudden Coaching Change
In a surprising turn of events, Wydad Casablanca, a prominent club in the Moroccan Professional League, announced the amicable separation from their head coach, Patrice Carteron, merely 40 days after his appointment. This decision comes in the wake of a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home against newly promoted team, Ittihad Yaacoub Al-Mansour. Following the match, the club took to Facebook to inform their loyal fans and the entire club community about the decision to part ways with Carteron, indicating that it was a mutual agreement.
Carteron's Brief Tenure and Future Prospects
Carteron was appointed on March 25, succeeding Mohamed Amin Hashem, who was dismissed following the team's exit from the African Confederation Cup quarter-finals. At the time of Carteron's hiring, Wydad was performing relatively well in the league, sitting in second place with 29 points from 12 matches, trailing behind rivals Raja Casablanca by just one point. However, under Carteron's leadership, the club's fortunes took a downturn, managing to secure only two points from the subsequent five league matches, which resulted in a drop to fourth place with a total of 31 points from 17 games, now six points behind the league leaders, Maghreb Fez.
