In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, Tunisia has made its mark at the International Meeting in Rabat, a significant event in the Grand Prix of para-athletics. The spotlight shone brightly on Yassine Guenichi and Raoua Tlili, both of whom excelled in their respective disciplines, clinching gold medals and showcasing the strength of Tunisian para-athletics on an international stage. On Friday, Yassine Guenichi triumphed in the shot put event for categories F35/F36, achieving an impressive throw of 16.46 meters. This accomplishment not only secured him the gold medal but also affirmed his stature as one of the world's elite athletes in this discipline.

The competition kicked off on a high note with Raoua Tlili, a world champion and Paralympic athlete, who set the tone for the Tunisian team by winning the gold medal in the discus throw (F41 category) with a remarkable throw of 33.88 meters. Other Tunisian athletes also performed admirably; Samar Ben Kaâlab finished fourth in the shot put (F41) with a throw of 26.66 meters, while Fathia Amaimia followed closely behind, securing fifth place with a throw of 26.54 meters. Furthermore, Aymen Lakoum added to the medal tally by earning silver in the F41 shot put category with a throw of 10.56 meters.

Tunisian Team on the Rise

The Tunisian delegation at this meeting comprised 12 athletes competing across various disciplines, including the likes of Soumaya Boussaïd (1500m T12/T13), Yosra Ben Jemaa (shot put and javelin F34), Raja Jebali (shot put F40), Jihen Aziz (shot put F46), Youssef El Ouehbi (1500m T12), Amir Sultan (shot put and discus F11), and Mohamed Trabelsi (javelin F34). The impressive performances by these athletes not only highlight the growing strength of Tunisian para-athletics but also set the stage for future competitions.
