Rising Star Younes Ebnoutalib Gains Attention from German National Team

Two years ago, Younes Ebnoutalib was playing for FC Gießen in the Regionalliga Southwest, but now at just 22 years of age, he finds himself in the spotlight as a potential candidate for the German national team. Under the new leadership of head coach Jürgen Klopp, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker has caught the eye of the national selectors, with Klopp reportedly taking the time to speak with Ebnoutalib during his recent training visit to the club. This conversation was highlighted on the official Instagram account of Eintracht Frankfurt, showcasing the budding interest in the young talent.

According to reports from Sky, Klopp and Ebnoutalib engaged in a substantial discussion, with the national team coach aiming to convince the Frankfurt-born player of a future with the German national squad. However, Ebnoutalib holds a dual citizenship, as his father, Faissal, is Moroccan and a former high-level athlete himself, who won a silver medal in taekwondo for Germany at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This duality adds an intriguing dimension to Ebnoutalib's international career prospects, as he could also don the colors of Morocco.

As of now, Ebnoutalib has yet to make his debut for any national team. He was poised to be nominated for the Moroccan national squad in March, but an unfortunate knee injury sustained shortly after his transfer from SV Elversberg to Eintracht Frankfurt sidelined him. It wasn't until early April that he made his comeback. During the Bundesliga opener against Union Berlin, Ebnoutalib made headlines by scoring a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Notably, Mohamed Ouahbi was in attendance at the stadium, watching the young striker's impressive performance.

When asked about his national team prospects, Ebnoutalib indicated that the decision was not his primary focus. He stated, "Indirectly, I think about it. But for now, I am concentrating on Eintracht, my club, and aiming to give my best to help the team succeed." With Klopp set to announce his squad for the upcoming Nations League matches on September 17, all eyes will be on Ebnoutalib as Germany prepares to face the Netherlands in Amsterdam on September 24.
