Nour Al-Huda Damraoui's Literary Debut
At just thirteen years old, Moroccan student Nour Al-Huda Damraoui has made waves in the literary world with the release of her first novel titled "Epic of the Past." This remarkable achievement is the result of her extensive reading and the nurturing support from her family and educational environments, including initiatives like the National Reading Project, which encouraged her to engage with literature alongside her peers.
In an interview, her father, Idris Damraoui, shared insights into her journey as a budding writer, attributing her passion for writing to her Arabic language teacher in the first year of middle school, Dr. Mohamed Asrar. He explained, "Nour Al-Huda's writing journey began with her participation in the National Reading Project and the Arabic Reading Challenge, where she excelled nationally. She earned the title of spokesperson for the Fez-Meknes region in Arabic and has consistently demonstrated her dedication to both reading and academics, serving as the representative of Boulemane Province in the Children’s Parliament."
A Journey of Inspiration and Creativity
Her father further elaborated on the pivotal moments that sparked her interest in writing, stating, "In her sixth year of primary school, she contributed an article to her school's publication, which was the initial seed of her writing aspirations." The following year, during her early middle school days, she immersed herself in novels, encouraged by her teacher, Dr. Asrar, who recognized her potential. After qualifying nationally and achieving first place in the National Reading Project for the Fez-Meknes region, she was urged to transition from reading to writing, a challenge she embraced seriously, resulting in her novel, "Epic of the Past," while also working on two additional manuscripts.
Notably, Nour Al-Huda does not limit her talents to fiction; she has also published contributions in various electronic magazines, including "The Letter and Word Magazine" and "Naboliss Cultural." The encouragement to publish her first novel came from the National Association for Human Rights in Fez, promoting young creativity, along with her teacher's initiative to send her manuscript to the Knowledge Treasures Publishing House, who recognized its merit and published it.
Within the pages of her new novel, readers encounter poignant reflections such as: "He smiled a bitter smile, mocking himself. He took the pen and began to write, but he was not just putting down words. He was writing his pain, his shattered hopes, and the pivotal moments in a life crushed by reality. He wrote about the first encounter, the hidden desires behind the words, the laughter that once filled the room, and that fateful day when he discovered that everything he had dreamed of was merely a false dream." This eloquent prose illustrates not only her literary prowess but also the depth of emotion she conveys through her storytelling.
