Countdown to the 2026 Credit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon
As we approach the highly anticipated 17th edition of the Credit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, exciting new details have emerged regarding this event, which aims to elevate its status on the international stage. This year's marathon promises a reinforced elite lineup, official recognition from World Athletics, and two innovative initiatives—one focusing on digital enhancements and the other on inclusivity—to enrich the experience for participants and foster a more engaging environment.
Enhancements to the Marathon Experience
During the second press conference held for the event, organizers highlighted their ambitious plans, particularly in the realm of sports. The marathon will feature a strong contingent of leading Moroccan athletes, both men and women, alongside esteemed international participants. The significant involvement of domestic elites, combined with increased prize money, is expected to enhance the competitive level of the marathon. Additionally, the Credit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon and the accompanying Half Marathon are now officially listed on the World Athletics Label Road Races calendar for 2026, with the marathon being awarded the prestigious Elite Label. This recognition signifies a major milestone, reinforcing the event's aspirations for international prominence.
This 17th edition will also introduce a mobile application featuring a real-time tracking function, enabling friends and spectators to monitor the runners' locations on a map and visualize their journey to the finish line. Furthermore, the emphasis on inclusion will be spotlighted through the launch of the Challenge 421—an unprecedented initiative in Morocco. Supported by civil society and associations advocating for individuals with disabilities, this challenge will allow participants to walk the final 421 meters of the marathon, cross the same finish line as the other competitors, and receive a medal in recognition of their accomplishment.
Under the theme "Vibe Casa – Casablanca runs. Casablanca vibrates," this edition anticipates the participation of 15,000 runners from 60 different countries. Three race formats will be offered: the full marathon (42.195 km), the half marathon (21.097 km), and a team relay (4 × 10.5 km). On October 25, Casablanca will come alive with the rhythm of a competition that combines athletic performance, international openness, and community involvement.
The Association of Grand Casablanca Runners (ACGC) brings together running enthusiasts and dedicated volunteers united by a shared belief: that sports serve as a powerful vehicle for overcoming challenges, fostering cohesion, and enhancing the visibility of communities. Through the Credit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon, the ACGC aspires to create a popular, inclusive, and demanding event that can become a true emblem of Casablanca on the international sports scene, showcasing the city to a global audience.
