Moroccan Ayoub Bouaddi Shines in Copa Award Rankings for Young Talent

Moroccan Football Star Ayoub Bouaddi Ranks Sixth in Copa Best Young Player Awards

In an impressive display of talent, Moroccan footballer Ayoub Bouaddi and Algerian star Ibrahim Maaza have secured the sixth and ninth positions, respectively, in the final standings of the prestigious Copa award for the best young player under 21 in 2026. The award was triumphantly claimed for the third consecutive year by the Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal, a rising star from FC Barcelona. Bouaddi, formerly with Lille in France and currently showcasing his skills at Manchester City, made a remarkable impact by finishing sixth, surpassing notable players such as Bosnia's Karim Alagicbegovic from Juventus, French striker Eli Junior Kroupi from Bournemouth, and Swiss player Johan Manzambi from Aston Villa.

On the other hand, Maaza, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen and represents the Algerian national team, earned the ninth spot in a competitive list featuring ten of the most promising emerging talents in global football. The top of the rankings was dominated by Yamal, who outperformed his Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsi and French sensation Warren Zaïre-Emery from Paris Saint-Germain. This year's list notably included three African talents, namely Bouaddi, Maaza, and Ivorian Yan Diomande, who finished fifth, reflecting the increasing presence of African players in the race for individual accolades aimed at the brightest stars of the future.
