Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is making significant strides on two fronts: profitability and fleet renewal. The airline's revenue is projected to increase by 8% in 2025, while its profits are expected to rise even more dramatically. Recent budget documents reveal the substantial financial commitments made to support this ambitious expansion.
The investments of Royal Air Maroc have witnessed a staggering leap, rising from 291 million dirhams to a remarkable 3.5 billion dirhams in just one year. These figures for 2025 are sourced from the report on public enterprises accompanying the 2027 budget project.
For the year 2025, the annual profit is set to surpass 2 billion dirhams, against a backdrop of 21.5 billion dirhams in revenue, marking an 8% increase. This solid performance confirms the airline's return to profitability after enduring losses from 2019 to 2022 during the health crisis.
The acceleration in investments is particularly striking. An earlier official report indicated investments of just 291 million dirhams in 2024, following a staggering 74% decline that year. In 2025, however, these investments are expected to balloon to approximately 3.5 billion dirhams, more than twelve times the previous amount.
Record Profits Amid Fleet Expansion
This remarkable growth coincides with an increase in the number of aircraft in operation. By the end of September 2026, Royal Air Maroc is expected to operate around 71 aircraft, a significant increase from about 50 in 2023. To swiftly enhance its capacity, the national carrier is also utilizing leasing options while awaiting the delivery of new aircraft linked to its long-term orders.
The program agreement concluded with the state envisions a fleet of 200 aircraft by 2037, the launch of over 100 new international destinations, and 46 domestic routes. The first deliveries stemming from the major tender are anticipated to begin in 2028.
Looking ahead to 2037, Royal Air Maroc aims to serve 31.6 million passengers and achieve an impressive annual revenue of 94 billion dirhams, a significant increase from the 21.5 billion dirhams projected for 2025.
