Rethinking Feminism Through a Decolonial Lens: A Conference Series in Rabat

Innovative Discussions on Feminism in Rabat

The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat is set to host an insightful series of conferences aimed at redefining contemporary feminism through a decolonial lens. This initiative, titled "Decolonizing Feminism," will bring together a diverse group of scholars, writers, and artists to engage in critical discussions surrounding the pressing issues faced by feminist movements today.

Running from April 2 to June 11, 2026, this conference series is organized by HEM's research center in collaboration with the Fatéma Mernissi Chair and the North African Decolonial Think Tank. The event is proudly supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the National Foundation of Museums, underscoring the commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of feminism that transcends traditional boundaries.

Such discussions are crucial as they allow for a re-examination of feminist theory and practice, considering the historical and ongoing impacts of colonialism. Participants will explore how a decolonial approach can enrich feminist discourse and lead to more inclusive and effective advocacy for gender equality.
