Empowering the Next Generation of Chadian Entrepreneurs in Morocco
In a significant development for youth empowerment and international cooperation, a group of 100 young Chadians from all 23 provinces of Chad is set to embark on an entrepreneurship excellence program at the Université Privée de la Santé et des Sciences d'Agadir (UPSSA) in Morocco. This initiative, made possible through a bilateral cooperation agreement, aims to equip these promising individuals with essential skills in various fields including leadership, management, finance, marketing, and digital transformation.
The ceremonial send-off took place at the residence of the Moroccan ambassador to Chad on October 26, 2026. During this event, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Naïr Abakar, emphasized the importance of this program, which offers a customizable and individualized educational pathway designed to nurture the potential of each participant. The overarching goal is to enable these young individuals to return to their home provinces equipped with the tools necessary for fostering local development and contributing to the socio-economic growth of their communities.
This initiative is a direct result of Minister Abakar's mission to Agadir from August 2 to 7, 2026, which culminated in the signing of a strategic cooperation framework between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Chad and UPSSA. This partnership is rooted in solidarity and the exchange of expertise, aiming to uplift Chadian youth through educational opportunities and professional development.
During his address, H.E. Abdellatif Erroja, the Moroccan ambassador to Chad, praised this innovative and bold model of cooperation, reiterating Morocco's commitment to share its expertise and encouraging the involvement of the Moroccan private sector in Chad's sustainable development efforts. He stated, “Our objective is to elevate Moroccan-Chadian cooperation to the level of a model South-South partnership, based on solidarity and the win-win principle, in line with the directives of our two heads of state, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.”
The ambassador further articulated that this public-private partnership opens a new chapter in the bilateral relations between Morocco and Chad, focusing on youth training and entrepreneurship promotion. Minister Naïr Abakar addressed the beneficiaries with a motivational message, highlighting the unique nature of the scholarships they have received. “Over the next three years in Agadir, you will engage in a process of learning, cultural exchange, and experience sharing. These scholarships are not traditional; upon completing your studies, you will develop a project aimed at enhancing your provinces,” he remarked, urging them to approach this opportunity with seriousness and commitment to create jobs and wealth upon their return.
In conclusion, Minister Abakar also called upon parents to provide support to their children as they face the challenges of life abroad, underscoring the importance of moral backing during this transformative journey.
