EasyJet Connects Birmingham to Agadir with New Winter Route
The British low-cost airline easyJet has officially launched a direct flight service between Birmingham, located in the heart of England, and Agadir, a beautiful coastal city in western Morocco. This new route, which commenced on Tuesday, October 27, operates twice a week, specifically on Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the winter season. The inaugural flight, operated by easyJet UK, departed from Birmingham Airport at 14:40 and is scheduled to arrive at Agadir-Al Massira Airport at 18:30.
This strategic timetable allows easyJet to offer a variety of holiday options, catering to both one-week stays and shorter getaways that connect the Midlands region to Morocco's stunning Atlantic coast. The announcement of this route came on April 24, as part of an extensive program that includes nine new routes from six British airports.
Initially, easyJet set a promotional fare for the first tickets at just £39.99 (approximately 499 dirhams) for a one-way journey, inclusive of taxes and applicable to the least expensive seats available at the time of the launch.
Agadir Joins EasyJet's Winter Destination Network
Agadir has been incorporated into easyJet's winter destination network alongside other popular locations such as Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. In tandem with the flight launch, the airline has also made available options for solo seat bookings as well as holiday packages that include flights, hotel accommodations, 23-kilogram baggage allowances, and transfers to beach resorts.
This new route primarily targets British tourists, with the flight schedule designed to appeal to travelers seeking a winter escape to the milder climate of southern Morocco. The Saturday departure caters to those looking for weekly vacations, while the Tuesday flight helps distribute passenger capacity throughout the week.
For Agadir, this new connection enhances the availability of direct flights from central England, a region previously linked to this popular seaside destination mainly through other British airports. Birmingham Airport serves a large population base, extending across the West Midlands and several neighboring cities. Furthermore, this route provides travelers with access to easyJet's extensive internal and European network from its UK base.
EasyJet's Moroccan offerings have now expanded with this new route from Birmingham, adding to existing connections from Bristol, Glasgow, and Manchester to Agadir, as well as flights to Marrakech from various British airports. This approach emphasizes the bundling of flight tickets with package deals offered through easyJet Holidays. For Agadir, a minimum deposit of £60 (approximately 748 dirhams) per person is required when booking a holiday, allowing the airline to sell hotel rooms and land services concurrently with the flight tickets, thus maximizing revenue beyond just transportation.
With the departure of flight EZY6695, this route transitions from a commercial announcement to regular operations, and easyJet UK has formally included it in its schedule with two flights each way per week. The announced timetable covers the winter season that began on October 27.
