In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, the operational services of the Algerian National Police have recently conducted two separate operations, resulting in the seizure of 61 kilograms of processed cannabis, which is believed to have originated from Morocco. These operations also led to the arrest of nine individuals suspected of involvement in the drug trade. This information was disclosed in a statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security on Thursday.
In addition to this drug enforcement action, the police have been actively pursuing other criminal activities across the capital. Last week, law enforcement agencies in Algiers apprehended 42 individuals linked to local gangs that were reportedly instilling fear among residents. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the police to maintain public safety and combat organized crime.
Moreover, the National Police Services in the regions of M'ghair, Illizi, and Djanet celebrated the 64th anniversary of the establishment of the Algerian police by organizing various activities attended by local authorities, security officials, and representatives of civil society.
