As the countdown begins for the final phase of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2026, the Algerian national team is set to travel to Rabat this Friday. The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced via its official website that the team, known as the Greens, commenced their final preparation camp on Monday at the 5 July Stadium in Algiers, ahead of the tournament scheduled to take place from October 12 to October 21 in Morocco.

Final Adjustments Underway

During this crucial phase of preparation, the national side held their first training session at 6:00 PM in the multipurpose hall (Coupole) of the Olympic Complex at 5 July. Fourteen players participated in this session, which was overseen by head coach Noureddine Benamrouche. This gathering is particularly significant as it provides the national coach with the opportunity to make final adjustments before entering the competitive arena of the African tournament.

The coaching staff aims to maximize the few remaining days of training to ensure the team is in the best possible condition to tackle the challenges ahead in the CAN.

Exciting Maghreb Derbies Await the Greens

The training camp will conclude with one last session before the team departs for Morocco. Following the draw, the Greens find themselves placed in Group A alongside the host nation, Libya, and Zambia. This group is expected to be highly competitive, and the Algerian team is under pressure to perform at their best to meet the high expectations surrounding them.

The Algerian squad will kick off their campaign on October 12 against the Atlas Lions, marking the first match of the group stage at 6 PM. Just 48 hours later, they will face off against Libya in another exciting Maghreb derby, set to start at 3 PM. The Greens are scheduled to conclude the group phase against Zambia on October 16, with the match set to begin at 6 PM, according to the schedule released by CAF.
