Christophe Miralles' Solo Exhibition 'Views on the Wall' at AA Gallery
AA Gallery in Casablanca is set to unveil 'Views on the Wall', the first solo exhibition of Franco-Spanish artist Christophe Miralles within the gallery space. Christophe Miralles takes over AA Gallery with 'Views on the Wall', presenting a selection of his recent works. As a recipient of the Azart Prize and the Claire Combes Prize from the Taylor Foundation, the Franco-Spanish painter splits his creative endeavors between Burgundy and Casablanca. His artwork draws inspiration from the Spanish pictorial tradition as well as from the arid landscapes of the South. In this context, the canvas is perceived not merely as a space for representation but as a playground for experimentation, where forms emerge, transform, or fade away.
'Views on the Wall' comprises paintings and installations that focus on the manipulation of materials, which play a central role in Miralles' artistic approach. His compositions favor minimalism and an economy of gesture, allowing shapes to gradually surface rather than constructing immediately recognizable images. According to the exhibition's presentation text, materials are treated as 'living, reactive entities laden with memory', while the artist's gestures accompany their transformations.
Among the notable works featured is 'Au-delà des nuages', an oil on canvas created in 2026, measuring an impressive 200 x 280 cm and highlighted in the exhibition announcement. Founded in 2019, AA Gallery, also known as African Arty, has operated from a new space in Casablanca since October 2023.
