EasyJet Launches Its First African Base in Marrakesh, Enhancing Connectivity to Europe

EasyJet Expands Its Reach with New Base in Marrakesh

EasyJet, the prominent low-cost airline, has officially inaugurated its inaugural base in Africa, located in the vibrant city of Marrakesh. This strategic move is set to significantly enhance travel options for customers by expanding connectivity to a multitude of European destinations. With an initial fleet of three aircraft stationed in Marrakesh, EasyJet aims to facilitate increased flight availability and vacation packages, catering to the growing demand for travel in and out of Morocco.

As part of a long-term collaboration established in 2025 with the Moroccan National Tourist Office, EasyJet has committed to providing an impressive total of 4 million seats during the first year of operations from its new base. This initiative not only bolsters the airline's position as the second-largest operator in Marrakesh, but it also underlines its dedication to strengthening its presence within the Moroccan market. The establishment of this permanent, year-round base has also led to the creation of around one hundred new jobs directly within the airline, alongside thousands of indirect job opportunities, contributing positively to the local economy.

New Routes and Expanded Offerings for Travelers

In a bid to further enhance travel choices, EasyJet has announced the introduction of six new routes to Morocco for the upcoming winter season. These routes will connect Marrakesh with cities including Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich, with tickets now available for purchase. Additionally, routes from Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and Birmingham to Agadir are expected to be launched in the spring, thereby increasing the total number of routes to Morocco to an impressive 58, with 30 specifically directed towards Marrakesh.

The airline has also decided to extend the operation of several existing routes, ensuring that flights from Lille, Strasbourg, and Hamburg to Marrakesh will now be available throughout the entire year. In conjunction with these flight expansions, EasyJet Holidays is offering over 70 hotel options in Marrakesh, ranging from three to five-star accommodations. Notably, the airline has introduced a selection of luxury hotels as part of its newly launched "Luxury Collection," which debuted in October 2025 in the United Kingdom, with the first guests expected to travel in April 2026.
