Severe Heat Conditions Across Morocco
This weekend, several regions in Morocco are bracing for an intense heat wave, with temperatures soaring to a staggering 44°C. The heat is expected to persist into Monday across multiple provinces in the southern part of the country. In addition to the soaring temperatures, strong gusts of wind, reaching up to 85 km/h, have been forecasted for the eastern regions of the Kingdom. According to Morocco's national meteorological service, Maroc Météo, the provinces of Tata, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Kénitra, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, El Hajeb, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Settat, Khouribga, and Assa-Zag will experience maximum temperatures ranging between 40 and 44°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Continued High Temperatures and Strong Winds
In addition to the extreme heat, similar temperature ranges of 36 to 40°C are expected in areas such as Safi, Meknès, Rabat, Benslimane, Berrechid, Khémisset, Agadir Ida-Outanane, Chtouka-Aït Baha, Inezgane-Aït Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Essaouira, Khénifra, Nouaceur, El Jadida, Salé, and Skhirate-Témara. The heat wave will continue to affect several provinces in the south, with temperatures fluctuating between 38 and 41 °C in Tan-Tan, Oued Ed-Dahab, Laâyoune, Boujdour, and Tarfaya on Sunday, September 13, and Monday, September 14. Furthermore, the strong wind gusts are anticipated to impact the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, and Taourirt during this weekend, creating a challenging environment for residents and travelers alike.
