Flamingos Arrive in Morocco, Set to Compete in World Cup

The Nigerian U-17 women's football team, known as the Flamingos, has officially arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, in preparation for the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The team landed on October 7, 2026, at approximately 10:16 AM local time and is currently residing at the Ibis Hotel, where they will acclimatize and prepare for their upcoming matches in the tournament.

Under the guidance of head coach Akeem Busari, the Flamingos are set to embark on their World Cup journey with a squad of 21 talented players, announced just days prior to their departure. The team's spirits are high as they aim to make a significant impact in this prestigious competition. The Flamingos have been placed in Group B, alongside formidable opponents including Poland, Puerto Rico, and North Korea.

Their first match is scheduled to kick off against Poland on October 17, followed by further group stage encounters against Puerto Rico and North Korea on October 20 and 23, respectively. The tournament, which will take place from October 17 to October 8, promises to showcase some of the best young talent in women's football on an international stage.
