Health Group in Fez-Meknes Joins National Campaign Against Bronchiolitis in Infants

Fez-Meknes Health Group Takes Action to Combat Infant Bronchiolitis

The Fez-Meknes health group has officially joined the national campaign aimed at raising awareness and preventing bronchiolitis in infants. This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, will run from October 19, 2026, to April 19, 2027. The primary objective of this campaign is to minimize the complications associated with this respiratory condition and ensure early intervention for affected cases.

This health campaign is particularly significant given the seasonal context in which it operates. Last season alone recorded a staggering 85,521 cases of bronchiolitis among infants under the age of two, with 45.5% of these cases requiring hospitalization. Such statistics highlight the substantial challenges this disease poses to healthcare facilities in the region.

The measures adopted as part of the campaign include organizing informative sessions for parents about infection prevention, the signs of danger, and general awareness about bronchiolitis. Additionally, primary healthcare centers and hospitals are being mobilized to enhance coordination across various treatment levels. The campaign also focuses on ensuring the availability of necessary medications and equipment, as well as strengthening the capabilities of medical and nursing staff alongside epidemiological monitoring efforts.

The overarching goal of this initiative is to ensure early diagnosis and appropriate care for infants suffering from bronchiolitis, thereby reducing the risk of severe complications. This proactive approach not only aims to safeguard the health of children but also to alleviate the pressure on healthcare institutions during peak epidemic periods.
