Carlos Salazar, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), emphasized the significance of the global seminar on civil aviation implementation tracking, which has facilitated the creation of regional and global partnerships aimed at bolstering safety, resilience, and adaptability within the aviation sector. He praised Morocco for its exemplary organization and generous hospitality during the event.
At the conclusion of the seminar held over three days in Marrakech, Salazar remarked that this gathering has played a pivotal role in forging new alliances across different regions of the world. The commitment to mobilize new resources, enhance cooperation, and implement training programs and technical assistance initiatives was also underscored.
The Secretary-General of ICAO noted that the outcomes of the seminar will support the organization's capabilities in fostering implementation and nurturing a new generation of professionals within civil aviation. He expressed confidence in the commitment that aims to enhance execution within the global civil aviation framework.
Salazar projected that by 2050, the number of air passengers is expected to triple, along with revenue increases. He highlighted the immense potential in markets like Morocco, congratulating Moroccan authorities for the opportunities available in this region to connect individuals, ideas, products, and goods.
He reiterated ICAO’s commitment to assist all countries in leveraging their inherent capabilities and in disseminating expertise, products, and services that will help nations transform demand into sustainable investment and development.
Salazar described the implementation process as a true test of multilateral action, emphasizing that international cooperation can only be beneficial if it is tangible. He clarified that established standards must be actively applied, stressing the necessity for effective monitoring systems and sustainable, cross-border collaboration, so that the entire world can reap the benefits.
