Join Société Générale as a Senior Operational Risk Officer in Algo Trading

Key Responsibilities

Located in Casablanca, within the SG Africa Technologies & Services (SG ATS) branch, you will be an integral part of the BTO/ORM department, responsible for resources dedicated to the first line of defense against operational and regulatory non-financial risks within MARK. Your role involves working closely with ORM teams, algorithmic trading desks, and their IT counterparts worldwide, with a primary focus on Paris. Your mission is to ensure that electronic and algorithmic trading activities comply with existing regulations, including European, US, and UK laws.

Your specific duties will include participating in various projects impacting algorithmic trading activities as a sponsor, coordinator, or MARK contributor. You will support the EDO Algo team by facilitating or participating in numerous global and regional electronic trading governance committees, serving as a representative of the BTO/ORM organization (first line of defense). These committees include the Electronic Orders Supervision (EOS), New Algo Committee (NAC), Filter & BL Committee, and New Market Access Committee (NMAC).

Additionally, you will act as the primary contact for both internal and external auditors, ensuring the implementation of remediation plans in response to internal or external recommendations. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, including MiFID II, AMF, and FCA. Setting up or adapting MARK governance around algorithmic trading, developing and enhancing existing compliance policies and procedures, and collaborating with global colleagues to establish worldwide standards for electronic/algorithmic trading are also key aspects of your role. Furthermore, you will execute and coordinate controls related to the use of trading algorithms, ensuring adherence to the governance required by MiFID II - RTS6, and produce relevant reports while fostering effective interactions with various support and control functions within the bank, ensuring alignment of priorities and fruitful cooperation.

Required Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree from an engineering school, business school, or a Master’s in financial engineering, alongside a minimum of three years’ experience in a financial market environment. A solid understanding of IT systems and the ability to conduct risk analysis in relation to current regulations, particularly MIFID and EMIR, are essential. Curiosity, rigor, excellent communication skills in both French and English, adaptability to a constantly evolving environment, and a proactive approach to anticipating risks are critical qualities for success in this position. A proven ability to initiate or implement process improvements (controls, automation, simplification, standardization, and quality enhancement) is also a key factor for success.

Founded in 2014, SG ATS is a subsidiary of the Société Générale Group, delivering agile and efficient solutions to SG trading rooms across Europe, particularly in Paris and London. SG ATS aims to become a multi-service center, continuously providing high-value services to various business lines within the Group, including risk management, finance, compliance, and other central departments. Recognized as "Best Employer 2025 – Morocco," SG ATS is a young and dynamic structure that places human capital at the heart of its development. The organization seeks to recruit talent who will actively contribute to the company’s success while thriving in an international environment conducive to the development of high-value skills.

The successful candidate will join the "Algo Supervision" unit within the MRA (Market Access, Referential & Algo Supervision) team of the MARK/BTO/ORM division. This unit aims to contribute to the management and oversight of non-financial risks within MARK by managing the control system for electronic trading and market access. This involves defining rules (drafting and reviewing normative documentation), ensuring their correct implementation across various tools, and supervising their compliance.
