Justice and Development Party Announces New Candidates for Upcoming Elections

The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) made a significant announcement on Thursday regarding the endorsement of candidates for the party's lists in 15 local electoral districts. This pivotal decision is in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for September 23, 2026. The announcement followed a meeting of the General Secretariat led by Secretary-General Abdelilah Benkirane, which aimed to finalize the nomination process after the Secretariat had previously settled on candidates for 40 local districts.

The new endorsements include notable figures such as Mohamed Lamine Daida for the Laayoune district, Khalid Bouqrai for the Taza district, Khalid Meidan for the Larache district, and Mohamed Moufidi for the Moulay Rachid district in Casablanca. Additionally, Ahmed Boukhbira has been endorsed for the Tetouan district, while Mohamed Toufla will represent the Menara district in Marrakech, and Monir Warzazi will stand for the Gueliz Nakhil district in Marrakech.

Moreover, the party also endorsed Abdessamad Assouli for the Bzou – Ouaouizagte district in Azilal, Rachid Bouzazou for the Boujdour district, and Rachid Al-Qadi for the Ouarzazate district. Other candidates include Abdel Wahid Sadqi for the Tinghir district, Hamid Benghridou for the Mediouna district, and Saleh Najmi for the Al-Haouz district. The General Secretariat is expected to make further decisions regarding the remaining local and regional electoral districts before announcing the final results.
