Legal Consequences for Content Creator in Marrakech
In a significant ruling, the Marrakech Court of First Instance has sentenced renowned content creator known as 'Kalamour' to ten months in prison, along with a financial penalty of 500 dirhams. Furthermore, the court has imposed a three-year ban on her from using social media platforms. This judgment was delivered on Monday, August 17, 2026, following the initial session of her trial, during which she was remanded in custody and placed in the local Oudaya prison, stemming from a case related to content she shared on digital platforms.
The public prosecutor's office had decided to prosecute Kalamour based on actions that were legally categorized as a public violation of decency, triggered by the dissemination of video clips and excerpts from a live broadcast deemed to contain content contrary to public morals. The National Security forces apprehended her at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca while she was attempting to leave the country, coordinating with Marrakech security authorities. Subsequently, she was subjected to judicial investigation and brought before the public prosecutor, who opted to continue her detention pending trial.
The ruling from the Marrakech court serves as a decisive action against the allegations leveled against Kalamour, outlining the penalties prescribed by law, including imprisonment, fines, and the specified ban on social media usage for a period of three years. This case highlights the ongoing tension between content creation and societal norms, raising questions about the responsibilities and limitations faced by digital influencers in their engagements with the public.
