Marrakech Police Conduct Successful Drug Busts

In a concerted effort to combat drug trafficking and the distribution of narcotic substances, the police forces in Marrakech executed two significant operations over the past weekend, leading to the arrest of two individuals caught red-handed with substantial quantities of cannabis and cocaine. The first operation was initiated by the urban police force from the second security district, supported by members of the anti-gang unit. Their meticulous surveillance and fieldwork culminated in the apprehension of a notorious drug dealer known by the alias "the rat," near the old bus station at Bab Doukkala. Upon apprehension, the suspect was found in possession of approximately two kilograms of cannabis, prepared for distribution.

Following the arrest, law enforcement officials proceeded to the suspect's residence located in the Al-Fakhara neighborhood, where a search yielded an additional similar quantity of cannabis, raising the total seizure to around four kilograms. The suspect has been placed under judicial custody upon the orders of the competent public prosecutor to facilitate further investigations and ascertain the broader implications of their criminal activities.

In a related operation aimed at preemptively eliminating sources of "white poison," a team from the regional judicial police executed a surprise raid in the Samlalia area, targeting a woman believed to be involved in the distribution of cocaine in upscale neighborhoods affiliated with Gueliz. This intervention resulted in the recovery of a significant quantity of cocaine in her possession, along with the confiscation of a light vehicle utilized for facilitating distribution and sales.

Upon conclusion of the preliminary investigation and subsequent presentation of the accused to the relevant public prosecutor, it was decided to proceed with charges against her while keeping her in detention at the local "Oudayas" prison in Marrakech pending the case.
