According to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), the Marrakech-Safi region witnessed an impressive establishment of 12,341 new businesses throughout the year 2025. This substantial growth highlights the region's vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and economic potential, with a clear distinction between the types of entities created. Out of the total, 9,918 were corporate entities, while 2,423 were individual enterprises, as detailed in the latest OMPIC dashboard.

The Marrakech prefecture led the way with a remarkable count of 9,614 newly formed businesses, followed by neighboring provinces such as Safi with 949, El Kelâa des Sraghna with 527, Essaouira with 526, Rehamna with 306, Chichaoua with 236, and Youssoufia with 183. This widespread establishment of companies across various locales underscores the regional diversity and the growing interest in entrepreneurship.

Diverse Business Sectors and Legal Structures

Examining the sectors contributing to this business boom, the commerce industry emerged as the dominant force, accounting for 21.34% of the newly created entities. Following closely were the construction and real estate sectors, which constituted 24.36%, alongside diverse services at 20.12%. The hospitality sector, including hotels and restaurants, represented 10.24%, while transportation, industrial activities, information and communication technologies (ICT), financial services, and agriculture and fishing rounded out the list with smaller yet significant shares.

In terms of legal structures, a substantial 63.9% of the new businesses were established as Sole Proprietorship Limited Liability Companies (SARL-AU), with Limited Liability Companies (SARL) following at 35.4%. Other forms, including public limited companies (SA), constituted a mere 0.2%, indicating a preference for more flexible and manageable business structures among entrepreneurs.
