Significant Increases in Passenger Traffic
In a strong show of resilience and growth, Moroccan airports are continuing their upward trajectory in 2026, with a remarkable total of 22,282,997 passengers recorded during the first seven months of the year. This figure represents a notable increase of 8.77% compared to the same period in 2025, as reported by the National Airports Office (ONDA). The surge in passenger numbers is predominantly driven by international travel, which saw a total of 19,894,489 passengers, reflecting an impressive rise of 8.82%. Domestic travel also experienced a healthy increase, with 2,388,508 passengers, marking an 8.36% growth year-on-year.
Leading Airports and Market Dynamics
The Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca continues to hold its position as the primary airport in the Kingdom, welcoming 6,953,695 passengers by the end of July. Following closely are Marrakech-Ménara with 6,407,303 passengers, Agadir-Al Massira with 2,179,857 passengers, Tanger Ibn Batouta with 1,711,764 passengers, and Rabat-Salé with 1,446,355 passengers. The international air traffic has significantly benefited from the robust performance of the European market, which remains the most significant source of passengers traveling to and from Morocco, accounting for 16,541,007 travelers, an increase of 9.29% over the previous year.
Other markets also demonstrated noteworthy performance, particularly traffic with South America, which surged by 34.21% to reach 62,880 passengers. North America saw a growth of 14.54%, totaling 581,297 travelers, while African traffic increased by 13.74%, reaching 1,175,674 passengers. Conversely, air traffic with the Middle East and Far East decreased by 4.12%, totaling 1,238,443 passengers.
The upswing in passenger traffic has been accompanied by an increase in aircraft movements, with Moroccan airports recording 164,164 movements by the end of July 2026, reflecting a 9.82% increase compared to the same period last year. Mohammed V Airport again leads this metric with 55,223 movements, followed by Marrakech-Ménara with 42,028 and Agadir-Al Massira with 15,009. Furthermore, air freight has also shown positive growth, with Moroccan airports handling 66,980.55 tons of goods during the first seven months of 2026, marking a 12.61% increase year-on-year.
During the month of July 2026 alone, the airports in the Kingdom welcomed 3,450,846 passengers, further confirming the sustained momentum of Moroccan air traffic throughout the summer season.
