In a remarkable development for the Moroccan aviation sector, the country’s airports welcomed a staggering total of 22,282,997 passengers in the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents an impressive increase of 8.77% compared to the same period in 2025, according to data released by the National Airports Office (ONDA). This surge is indicative of the overall recovery of air traffic, especially in the wake of the challenges posed by global disruptions in previous years.

International air travel was a standout performer, accounting for 19,894,489 passengers, which marks an increase of 8.82% year-over-year. The European market continues to be the largest contributor, sending 16,541,007 passengers to and from Morocco, reflecting a robust growth rate of 9.29% compared to the previous year. This trend highlights the strong ties between Morocco and European countries, which have long been significant sources of air traffic for the nation.

In addition to Europe, other regions also experienced substantial growth in air traffic. South America saw a remarkable increase of 34.21%, with 62,880 passengers, while North America and Africa recorded gains of 14.54% and 13.74%, respectively. The connectivity with the Maghreb region also improved, reporting a 10.06% rise in passenger numbers. Despite these positive trends, the Middle and Far East markets observed a decline of 4.12%, with 1,238,443 passengers traveling to and from these regions, indicating the varying dynamics in global air travel.

Operational Highlights and Cargo Growth

Throughout the same period, Moroccan airports registered a total of 164,164 aircraft movements, which is an increase of 9.82% compared to the previous year. The Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca led the way with 55,223 movements, followed by Marrakech-Ménara with 42,028, and Agadir-Al Massira with 15,009. This increase in flight operations is a clear indicator of the growing demand for air travel within and beyond Morocco.

Additionally, the air freight sector also performed well, with cargo volumes reaching 66,980.55 tons, reflecting a 12.61% growth over the same period in 2025. In July 2026 alone, Moroccan airports welcomed 3,450,846 passengers, further solidifying the upward trajectory of the aviation sector in the country.
