Morocco Set to Create Over One Million Jobs by 2026

Morocco's Employment Landscape: A Million Opportunities Ahead

In an ambitious move towards bolstering its economy, Morocco is on track to create over one million jobs by the end of 2026. This initiative comes as part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing the professional integration of youth and women into the workforce. The Moroccan government has outlined its commitment to accelerating public policy implementation, particularly in key economic sectors, as it strives to improve employment prospects across the nation.

Recent statistics reveal that between 2021 and 2025, the country successfully generated approximately 850,000 jobs in non-agricultural sectors. A significant meeting held in Rabat on April 10, 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, showcased the positive trends in job creation, emphasizing a national drive towards achieving these ambitious employment goals.

Political analyst Kerwin Mayizo commented on the necessity of expanding employment opportunities beyond just qualified professionals, highlighting the importance of training young people for various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and industrial fields. The government's focus on providing jobs for non-graduates illustrates a comprehensive approach to addressing the diverse needs of the Moroccan job market.

During this period, the average annual job creation rate has been around 170,000 positions, with 2025 alone witnessing the creation of 233,000 jobs. This momentum is largely fueled by the agriculture and tourism sectors, which continue to play a pivotal role in sustaining economic activity and employment growth.

In addition to creating job opportunities, the Moroccan authorities are actively promoting the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through investment support programs. Initiatives such as "Idmaj," "Tahfiz," and "Tadarouj" have been introduced to facilitate the professional integration of young individuals and women while improving vocational training across the country. With these efforts, Morocco is not only aiming to meet its employment targets but also to build a skilled workforce capable of fulfilling market demands.
