Morocco's Transition Back to GMT+1 Time Zone
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2:00 AM, Morocco will officially shift back to the GMT+1 time zone, advancing clocks by 60 minutes to reflect the new time of 3:00 AM. This change has been announced by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and is part of the country's ongoing adjustments to its legal timekeeping system. This adjustment follows a previous change made on February 15, 2026, when clocks were set back by one hour to GMT in observance of Ramadan.
The transition to GMT+1 is in line with the provisions of decree n°2-18-855, issued on October 26, 2018, which regulates legal time in Morocco. Additionally, it adheres to the directive from the head of government, which was published on February 22, 2024, regarding the change of legal hours. Such adjustments are not uncommon as countries adapt their timekeeping practices to better align with social and economic activities.
