Morocco Welcomes Nearly 9.4 Million Tourists by June, Generating Over 53 Billion Dirhams

Tourism Growth in Morocco: A 2026 Overview

According to the latest report from the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts, Morocco has welcomed approximately 9.4 million visitors through its border crossings by the end of June 2026. This figure marks a significant increase of 6% compared to the previous year, showcasing a promising recovery in the tourism sector following global disruptions. The report highlights notable growth in arrivals from several key markets, including a 9% rise from France, 14% from Germany, and 10% from the Netherlands, among others. Notably, Poland saw a remarkable surge of 32%, reflecting a growing interest in Moroccan tourism among diverse European markets.

As the tourism sector continues to rebound, it recorded an impressive 8.1% growth in added value during the first quarter of 2026, following a robust 8.7% increase the previous year. These figures suggest a continued positive trajectory for the industry, with indicators pointing towards sustained growth in the coming months. Furthermore, the number of overnight stays in classified accommodation facilities rose by 9% by the end of May, bolstered by increases in major destinations such as Marrakech (10%), Agadir (13%), and Casablanca (12%). Other cities like Rabat and Tangier also contributed to this upward trend.

Travel revenues reached an impressive 53.8 billion dirhams, reflecting a 14.6% improvement compared to the same period in 2025. This financial boost not only underscores the vitality of the tourism sector but also signals a broader economic recovery for Morocco, positioning the country as a premier travel destination in the region.
