On Friday, August 14, the General Directorate of National Security announced a fresh round of appointments to key management positions within its central and decentralized security services, covering several cities including Laayoune, Ouarzazate, Oujda, and Zagora. These strategic appointments aim to provide opportunities for talented young security professionals to assume leadership roles, while also reinforcing the principle of rotation in positions of responsibility. This initiative is designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the security apparatus and improve its overall performance.
The new appointments, which were approved by the Director General of National Security, Abdelatif Hammouchi, include ten significant positions within public security, general intelligence, and judicial police departments. Among the most notable changes is the appointment of two police station heads in Oujda, as well as an acting head for the regional judicial police in Ouarzazate and a head for the judicial police team in the second security district of Laayoune.
The recent reshuffle also affected the security services in Zagora, with new appointments made to lead several decentralized offices, including a head for the police station at Zagora Airport, a head for the urban police, and an acting head for the judicial police team in the city. At the central level, the new appointments involved placing security personnel at the helm of the demographic data management department, alongside other units under the general intelligence directorate.
This series of appointments is part of the ongoing dynamic adopted by the General Directorate of National Security to strengthen and qualify its human resources by assigning responsibilities to individuals equipped with the necessary skills, training, and experience to manage security operations effectively. Furthermore, this movement illustrates the security institution's commitment to renewing field management mechanisms and ensuring the rotation of responsibilities, which is vital for addressing evolving security challenges and implementing action plans aimed at enhancing citizen safety and protecting property.
