Nationwide Solidarity Protests for Palestine Scheduled in Morocco
On Wednesday, October 7, various cities across Morocco will witness a series of "solidarity protests" in support of Palestine, marking the third anniversary of the "Flood of Al-Aqsa". This initiative is part of a national week of protests called by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization, continuing through October 11. The front has announced that a national demonstration will take place in Rabat in front of the Parliament at 5 PM, urging its branches to organize additional protests and mobilization seminars.
This wave of protests reflects an ongoing resistance movement led by opponents of normalization in Morocco. Previously, 17 demonstrations were organized by branches of the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine, protesting against what they described as an escalation in Moroccan-Israeli relations, particularly regarding the exchange of diplomatic missions. The National Working Group for Palestine is also rallying behind the central demonstration, calling for immediate Arab and Islamic action to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque, alleviate the suffering of prisoners, halt all forms of normalization with the occupying forces, and close the Israeli liaison office in Rabat.
According to announcements from various organizations supporting Palestine, a protest is expected to occur in Fez at "Al-Jabari" Square at 5 PM. In Meknes, a protest will take place in front of the Camera cinema immediately after the Maghrib prayer on Thursday. Marrakech will see a demonstration at Koutoubia Square following the Maghrib prayer on Friday. Additionally, the city of Oujda will host a protest at 4:30 PM at August 16 Square on the same day. The series of protests will culminate in Casablanca on Saturday at the United Nations Square (Maréchal) at 5 PM.
In Tangier, the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Solidarity (Tangier branch) has announced an evening speech festival, aligning with the broader movement of solidarity.
