School Year Start Dates Confirmed by Education Ministry

The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sports has officially announced to all parents, guardians, students, educational staff, and the general public that the school year for 2026-2027 will commence on the scheduled date as determined by Ministerial Order No. 047.26, issued on July 3, 2026, regarding the organization of the academic year.

In a recent communiqué, the ministry clarified that the administrative and educational staff will report to their respective workplaces to sign the entry records on September 1, 2026. Following this, the educational staff and researchers in education and training are expected to arrive at their institutions on September 2 to complete the same process.

Younger students will start school on September 3, which includes children in preschool, first and second graders of primary education, first year students of lower secondary education, and common branches of upper secondary education. The next wave of students, namely third and fourth graders from primary education, second-year students from lower secondary education, and first-year baccalaureate students, will begin their school year on September 4.

Additionally, students in fifth and sixth grades of primary education, third-year lower secondary education students, and second-year baccalaureate students will report to school on September 5. The ministerial announcement emphasized that September 7 is designated as the official and mandatory start date for all educational levels and systems.

It was also noted that classes for non-formal education and second chance programs will commence on October 5, 2026. The ministry has reiterated its call for all educational stakeholders, administrators, families, and partners to engage in collective efforts to ensure the success of this school year, thereby securing educational time and learning opportunities for all students across various educational institutions.
