PAM Rejects RNI's Involvement in New Government

Nizar Baraka, the Secretary General of the Istiqlal Party, has officially announced that the National Council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) has decided against the participation of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in the forthcoming government. This significant decision was applauded by members of the Istiqlal National Council during their meeting held on the morning of October 3, 2026.

As political parties convene their national councils on this date, they are engaged in ongoing consultations aimed at forming the next government, following the legislative elections that took place on September 23. The Istiqlal National Council is tasked with reviewing the proposal presented by Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, the head of the government designated to form the new administration, from her consultation with the party's leadership on September 30. The council's focus is to finalize its stance regarding participation in the upcoming government.

Meanwhile, the PAM, which emerged as the leading party in the recent elections with a total of 97 seats, is also conducting its National Council meeting. The primary agenda is to discuss the political landscape ahead and the party's strategic role in the formation of the new government. In contrast, the RNI, which secured the second position with 66 seats, is deliberating its potential participation in the government as discussions continue to establish a majority coalition.

The People's Movement is also holding its National Council meeting in Rabat, presided over by Adil Sbaï, the President of the National Council, with the session being conducted both in-person and virtually.
