Major Drug Bust in Rabat Involving Law Enforcement
In a significant operation conducted by the anti-gang unit of the judicial police in Rabat, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, a police officer and his sister were apprehended on Sunday, September 27th, on drug trafficking charges. The arrest took place on the Tangier-Rabat highway, where the officer was found in possession of a substantial quantity of illegal substances.
During the traffic stop, law enforcement officials seized a staggering 5,150 narcotic pills, 45 grams of cocaine, and a sum of money in dirhams from the officer's vehicle. This alarming discovery prompted further investigation, leading to the identification and arrest of his sister in Aïn Aouda, a suburb near Rabat. Authorities suspect her to be the intended recipient of the drugs, which were reportedly destined for distribution.
Both suspects have since been placed in police custody, pending further inquiries and a thorough examination of their potential criminal connections. In light of these developments, the General Directorate of National Security (DGNS) has temporarily suspended the police officer from duty, adhering to administrative measures designed to address the involvement of security personnel in criminal acts.
