Incident Reports from Niederrhein and Düsseldorf Airports

On the morning of Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Federal Police at Niederrhein Airport conducted a routine check on a traveler departing for Marrakech. During the verification of his identity, it was discovered that he was wanted by the Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office under a warrant for enforcement. The Duisburg District Court had previously convicted him of driving under the influence, imposing a fine of 960 euros. To avoid a 12-day substitute imprisonment, the 38-year-old Dutchman promptly paid the total amount of 1,091.50 euros, which included the fine and additional costs. As a result, he was able to board his flight to Morocco as scheduled.

Later that Sunday afternoon, the Federal Police apprehended a 45-year-old Bulgarian on the A61 motorway at the Breyell interchange. A check of his personal details against police databases revealed an outstanding warrant issued by the Frankenthal Public Prosecutor's Office. This warrant arose from a conviction by the Ludwigshafen District Court for driving without a license, for which he was sentenced to a fine of 4,500 euros or alternatively a 45-day custodial sentence. The individual was arrested and taken to the Federal Police premises in Kempen, where he successfully paid the required fine and was subsequently allowed to continue his journey.

Additional Arrests and Border Control Efforts

In further developments, during the entry control of a flight from Larnaca, Cyprus, the Federal Police at Düsseldorf Airport identified a 33-year-old Bulgarian woman who was also wanted by the Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office. This individual had an outstanding arrest warrant issued in September for intentional driving without a valid license.

In Aachen, over the weekend, the Federal Police successfully executed five arrest warrants and thwarted two smuggling attempts as part of the reintroduced border checks. On Saturday morning, officers from the Aachen Federal Police Inspection stopped a 37-year-old Romanian national during their operations.
