In exciting news for those who love to migrate like birds to sunnier locales, Nuremberg’s Albrecht Dürer Airport is set to introduce a new direct flight service to Morocco. Starting from the upcoming winter flight schedule, the Irish airline Ryanair will add the coastal city of Agadir to its roster of destinations.
According to a statement from the airport, "Agadir, with its mild temperatures and over 300 days of sunshine each year, becomes an especially appealing travel destination from November to March." However, during this period, instead of the traditional beach vacation, visitors can look forward to long walks along the Atlantic coastline, rounds of golf under a clear blue sky, or excursions into the diverse landscapes of southern Morocco. Agadir is also considered an ideal launch point for tours across Morocco, with popular trips to Marrakech, which is approximately a three-hour drive away.
Marcel Pouchain Meyer, Country Manager and Head of Communications DACH at Ryanair, expressed excitement about the new winter destination, stating, "We are pleased to offer Agadir as a new, attractive winter destination from Nuremberg, providing our guests with even more options." He further noted that the persistently high access costs in Germany, particularly the exorbitant air travel tax, hinder additional connectivity and limit investment and growth opportunities for the airline.
Michael Hupe, the airport's managing director, emphasized that with the addition of Agadir, Ryanair is enhancing its winter offerings from Nuremberg and strengthening its connection to Morocco. This development also reinforces Ryanair's position as the largest airline operating at Nuremberg Airport. Flights to Agadir will operate every Monday and Saturday and can be booked through Ryanair’s booking channels.
