Education Ministry Confirms School Year Commencement
The Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports has officially announced to all parents, guardians, students, and educational staff that the school year for 2026-2027 will commence on its scheduled date, as per the provisions of Ministerial Order No. 047.26 issued on July 3, 2026, regarding the organization of the academic year.
Key Dates for Students and Staff
In a recent statement, the ministry detailed the timeline for the commencement of duties for various educational professionals. Administrative and management staff, as well as inspectors and evaluators, are expected to report to their workplaces on September 1, 2026, to sign the entry protocols. Following this, staff members from the teaching sector and researchers in education will arrive at their respective institutions on September 2 to complete the same process.
Preschool students, along with first and second graders of primary education, as well as first-year students in the lower secondary level, will begin attending classes on September 3. Meanwhile, third and fourth graders in primary education, second-year lower secondary students, and first-year baccalaureate students are scheduled to start on September 4.
September 5 marks the return for fifth and sixth graders in primary education, third-year lower secondary students, and second-year baccalaureate students. The ministry highlighted that September 7 is the designated date for the official and mandatory start of classes across all educational levels. Additionally, it was noted that classes for non-formal education and second chance programs will commence on October 5, 2026.
The ministry reiterates its call for all educational stakeholders, administrators, families, and partners to engage in a collective effort to ensure the success of this school year's initiation, while safeguarding the academic time and learning environment for all students across various educational institutions.
