Thailand's New Immigration Rules Affect Moroccan Travelers
In a significant shift in its immigration policy, the Thai government has announced that as of September 15, 2026, Moroccan travelers will no longer be able to enter Thailand without a visa. This policy change comes after the publication of new regulations by the Thai authorities on August 31, which revised the country's visa-exemption system. Previously, Moroccan passport holders, along with nationals from 92 other countries, enjoyed the privilege of entering Thailand visa-free for stays of up to 60 days. However, under the revised rules, this exemption has been drastically altered.
As per the latest immigration regulations, the visa exemption has been shortened to only 30 days and is now applicable to a reduced list of 60 countries. Unfortunately, Morocco does not feature on this new roster of eligible nations. Additionally, Moroccan nationals are excluded from two newly introduced entry schemes: a 15-day visa exemption specifically for travelers from Mauritius and Seychelles, and a Visa on Arrival scheme available for citizens of Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Serbia.
The implementation of these new rules will become effective 15 days after their announcement, which means that Moroccans planning to visit Thailand will need to secure a visa prior to their travel. Thankfully, the application process has been streamlined through Thailand’s e-Visa system, allowing Moroccan residents to complete their visa applications online without the need to physically visit a Thai embassy.
This development marks a notable change in the travel landscape for Moroccan citizens, who until now had enjoyed the ease of traveling to Thailand without prior visa arrangements.
